This is a great app, especially when you have to make flash cards or print out cards to help students read. Love it!! Keep up the great work.

One of the few apps that deals with phonics beyond the introductory or primary grades. Im using it to help a young man with an LD prepare for his highschool equivalency exam. Drilling may not be great for some, but for an adult who wants to get grounded in phonics and what letter combinations make what sounds--so far this is it.

This app has been helping me so much, I pick some sounds that are more difficult for me and practice them everyday. Its amazing the improvement Im getting. I really like this and its complete free!

There needs to be a setting to remove the two to three syllable words and be able to add them when the child is ready.

This free app has just about every phoneme you can think of. It is organized in alphabetical order by phoneme and students can record themselves and then compare their pronunciation to the app speaker. It is being successfully used by our beginning readers, students with learning disabilities and English language learners. The free versions of many of the Alligator Apps have many excellent programs but we plan to get the full versions when our funding becomes available. ABC Genius, etc. are also highly recommended. Thank you for this gift.

Ive used this awesome app for 2 weeks and I cant believe that it is free with no in-app purchases to trick you into buying in order to use the complete set of features. Ive used the ready made list for the CVC (short vowels), Ive made customized list with "highlights " and category pictures I.e. The Polar Express. And Ive let the children that I tutor record their own lists. If you find that you cant record, simply go into settings where you select the app and flip the button for the app to access the mike and do the same if you want to add pics to your categories; flip the button to let the app access your camera roll where you can select the pic you want to use. I love free but I would actually pay for such a useful, simple, and fun app.

The app is great. My mom is a speech pathologist and she uses this app a lot with her students. However, I am running the latest version of iOS 8 on my iPhone and the microphone wont work with the app even after I flipped the toggle to allow it. My moms iPad is running on iOS 6 because the app allows her to record with that version. Could you please update the app for iOS 8? Other than that, awesome app!

Dont waste your time with other apps!

I got this app to help my kids with phonics and word families. I like the app but their are missing phonics families like "oke". Its slightly disappointing in that respect. Overall its good. Not the greatest but better than others Ive looked at.

My daughter started using this app at the age of 3. She had a knack for annunciating, spelling and pronouncing words. Although she soon grew weary of it because of her abilities, I would most certainly recommend it for any child. Especially, parents with accents.

The sounds are clear, natural, with a big variety of phonics.

Very nice app, with such a large volume of words to practice specific sounds combination and check your spelling. It would be nice if there were rules that was a part of the apt that would indicate when certain combination are used! Otherwise a great app.

Recommended for phonics awareness, special ed, and also for ESL students. Thumbs up.

The mic isnt working so I cant record new words, only write them. It would also be great to add the following features. - be able to customize the color of the highlight (I do that to help them notice the next vowel) - Be able to change the font. - be able to choose an option in which the font, order and color changes every timeso small children dont get bored easily. Great potential and an awesome timesaver. Unfortunately without the mic I HAVE to be there and read the words aloud.

Free of peacock feathers and does one thing well. An improvement would be to give option to child to sound the word so that child can verify own pronunciation.

Works very well with my kids who have learning gaps in reading. It uses both visual and auditory modalities to help them learn.
